Trade Negotiations Starts Uğur Terzioğlu, the chairman of the Turkish-American Business Association (TABA), had a meeting with US Ambassador to Turkey James Jeffrey and Commercial Counselor James Fluker. After having conducted a fruitful meeting in terms of increasing USA-Turkey trade volume, Uğur Terzioğlu stated that they agreed the two countries could boost bilateral trade in various areas despite the global crisis. Terzioğlu said that during the meeting many investments and trade opportunities in energy, infrastucture, real estate and tourism were discussed, but US firms were particularly interested in tourism, renewable energy and nuclear energy projects. In conclusion, it was decided that US would be playing an effective role in financing the investments in these three sectors. Potential investment areas in the US that Turkish businessmen may be interested were also discussed during the meeting: The markets deeply affected by the global economic crisis particularly US real estate market stood out as an attractive investment opportunity because of low property prices, in some cases lower than the value at cost of building these properties.
